What is Lakbay-Puso?
Lakbay-Puso, in Filipino literally translated as “Journey with a Heart,” is designed by the Philippine Children’s Fund of America for young Filipino-Americans to know more about their roots and heritage, taste the culture and learn the unique Filipino way of life. PCFA will make it possible for the participants to experience social work with fun and adventure.
What are the objectives of Lakbay-Puso?
The program is for US-born Filipino youth/students or Fil-Am who are raised in the US and remains Filipino at heart – to trace their roots and discover their identity, to find out something new about their culture and to form their own point of view by seeing it from a fresh perspective.
By experiencing our Lakbay Puso program, the participants are expected to gain better understanding of the country and its people, and greater awareness and appreciation of the rich Filipino-American history.
The experience will hopefully instill and preserve a sense of national pride to the participants, and bridge the gap between their native cultures. And, as we all know, “Changing Lives” is our most important mission.
