Five years ago I dreamed of becoming a nurse and now it becomes a reality. It has been a long and rough road to reach this destination, a lot of trials and difficulties along the way that I’ve surpassed with the help of PCFA.
Here are the things that I’ve learned from PCFA:
The value of education:
PCFA granted me the scholarship that I needed. With the help of Sir Erik and Sir Raffy who continuously guide me and giving me financial and moral support, every step of the way seems to lighten up. I know a lot kids deserve to have the scholarship that PCFA gave me. In gratitude I studied hard to get good grades, graduated and passed the local board exam.
The value of friendship:
In PCFA you will never be alone. There are a lot of friendly people that you can encounter. I am so amazed to meet a lot of my fellow Amerasians laughing, singing and dancing with them. I always look forward on the special events like Christmas parties because for sure it will be one exciting experience to be with them, chatting, sharing, playing and bonding.
To have a self respect:
PCFA thought me to respect myself, allowing me to be different and unique, have my own personality, and nurturing my gifted talents. That’s why PCFA encourages me to speak up, sing, dance and voice out to the world that i can do a lot of things, discover myself and knowing my own talents that every Amerasian like me has to show to the whole world.
The value of social work:
PCFA helps a lot of kids in their education, health and social well being. As a scholar I do volunteer work for PCFA in Mary Sison Child Development Center in Tondo, Manila. I am always excited to go there and help Ms. Rosela (PCFA staff) and Ms. Rose in dealing with the kids. I play, laugh, read, giggle, and work with them. It is always a fun and memorable experience every time I go there.
There are so many things that I’ve learned but the most important part is not to think only of myself. That in reality there are a lot of Amerasian that are being abused, do not have enough food, shelter, and are being deprived of their right to have a good education.
And I promised to strive hard to have a good job and become a successful in order to help my fellow Amerasian like in the same way that PCFA had helped me.
And to PCFA thank you very much for helping me reach my dream…
Sincerly yours,
Arthur Glenn Parks R.N.
