Who are the Amerasians

By definition, an Amer-Asian is any person fathered by a citizen of the United States of America (i.e. an American servicemen, expatriate, or government employee whether government or contractual) and whose mother is or was an Asian national.

The Amerasian plight

Reports estimate that there are about 52,000 Amerasians in the Philippines. Astonishingly, they are still growing in numbers despite the fact that the Americans have long abandoned the US Air Base in the country.   What seems to be a very small deal for other people who are unfamiliar with the plight of most of the Amerasians is not really as simple as it sounds. Majority of these Amerasians do not even know their fathers, majority of them are always ostracized and discriminated and rejected not only by other people but by the fathers that they know as well, and worst, majority of them live in poverty, working instead of studying, prostituted at a young age or surviving only through the mercy or donation from other people.

Challenge

For the Philippine Children's Fund of America, the commitment to help the Amerasian group in the Philippines was renewed in the late quarter of 2004. Today, PCFA is seriously addressing the agenda of consolidating and strengthening the Amerasians base, earning small successes which PCFA believes will turn to great victories in the future.

Our Commitment

In partnership with different Amer-asian groups and various government agencies, we provide the following services:

What can you do to help

If you have a missing Filipino-American child and wish to trace him/her; if you know a friend who is searching for his/her Filipino-American child, or if you wish to sponsor an Amerasian kid, please do not hesitate to contact us. We would be very glad to entertain you. Please remember that we are also a member of the Combined Federal Campaign and the United-way.

Together we could help the Amerasians, together we could make them achieve the dream that they all have in their hearts, for the Amerasians are not liabilities, nor are they tarnish in the society, they do not deserved to be pitied, ostracized and left behind like what most of them experienced. Amerasians are our brothers and sisters, they deserve to belong, to be recognized, and to be heard.

It is our commitment to help the Amerasians to reach their most aspired dream, (to be in the country they called their own), and with this program, it is never impossible for them to achieve it. It was truly a blessing for the organization to be a part on the dream come true experience of the following Amerasians:

"Last june 14, 2007 Two Amerasians, JENNIFER LOCKWOOD and KEITH GREENE arrived at Sacramento California"
